Hartwood Twilight™

Women's UPF 50+ Quarter-Zip Performance Riding Shirt

Nadine & Ripley Signature Collection

The Guardians of the Moonlit Vale

Not every forest is meant to be found.

Important Product Information

✔ Made to order in approximately one business week before shipping.

Yes — this is a real wearable performance shirt.

The artistic lifestyle images throughout this listing are designed to help you imagine different ways to style the piece, but the actual product is the performance quarter-zip shown in the product photos and mockups.

Each shirt is made to order, meaning it is created specifically for you after purchase rather than sitting in a warehouse. This allows me to reduce waste while continuing to create a growing collection of original wearable artwork.

I am continually adding real-world photos, riding videos, and close-up fabric details as each design is photographed outdoors.

From the saddle to the sea.

Designed for riding, hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, travel, gardening, fishing, beach days, and every sunny adventure in between.

Thank you for supporting a small artist-owned business. ❤️

Hartwood Twilight™

The Guardians of the Moonlit Vale

They say there is a forest that appears only after the last light has faded.

A place where the trees stand impossibly tall.

Where the lakes reflect stars that have no names.

And where the creatures of the old world still walk beneath the moon.

No road leads there.

No map remembers it.

But sometimes, when twilight settles over the mountains and the air becomes perfectly still, a narrow path opens between the trees.

And if you follow it...

You may find Hartwood.

Deep within the forest, where a silver lake lies beneath the crescent moon, two extraordinary creatures stand facing one another.

They have the elegant faces and flowing manes of horses.

The branching antlers of ancient woodland stags.

And the quiet, commanding presence of something that belongs to the forest itself.

They are not ordinary horses.

Nor are they deer.

They are the Hartwood Guardians.

Watching over a place where moonlight, woodland magic, and the natural world have become inseparable.

Golden faeries gather among the leaves.

Moths drift through the night air.

Copper-colored branches curl around the ancient trees.

And the lake carries the reflection of a world that few will ever see.

The guardians do not chase away visitors.

They simply wait.

For those who enter with curiosity rather than conquest.

For those who understand that some places are precious precisely because they remain wild.

Hartwood Twilight™ is an invitation into that forgotten world.

The Story Behind the Artwork

For this design, I wanted to capture a very particular feeling.

That moment when the sun has disappeared but the night has not completely arrived.

When the last traces of warmth remain in the trees.

When the world becomes quieter.

And familiar places begin to look just a little mysterious.

Twilight has always occupied an interesting place in folklore.

Neither fully day nor fully night, it provides the perfect setting for stories about hidden realms, fairy encounters, and creatures that seem to belong between worlds.

Hartwood Twilight™ takes inspiration from those traditions without attempting to reproduce any one specific legend.

The central creatures combine two animals that already carry enormous symbolic weight.

The horse, with its strength, movement, and freedom.

And the stag, long associated with forests, wilderness, and the quiet grandeur of nature.

I imagined a creature that possessed the best qualities of both.

The strength of a horse.

The grace of a deer.

The magnificent antlers of a woodland guardian.

And the flowing mane of something born to run beneath an open sky.

Rather than portraying these creatures as monsters or supernatural threats, I wanted them to feel noble.

Protective.

Almost peaceful.

Because magic does not always need to be frightening.

Sometimes it is simply the feeling that the world is larger and more extraordinary than we realize.

The Symbolism

The Twin Guardians — Balance & Connection

The two equine-stag guardians on the front face one another across a moonlit woodland landscape.

Their mirrored arrangement represents partnership, balance, and the strength found in connection.

Two creatures.

Two perspectives.

One protected world.

The Antlers — Renewal & Wildness

Antlers are remarkable natural structures, renewed through the lives of many deer species.

Within Hartwood, they symbolize the renewing power of the natural world.

They also create a visual connection between the creatures and the surrounding branches.

Almost as if the forest itself has crowned them.

The Crescent Moon — Hidden Possibilities

The crescent moon illuminates the space between the guardians.

It represents beginnings, mystery, and the promise of something not yet fully revealed.

The moon does not illuminate every path.

Only enough to encourage us to keep exploring.

The Lake — Reflection

Water lies at the heart of the composition.

It reflects the moonlight, trees, and distant landscape.

Within the story, the lake represents the space between what we see and what we imagine.

A reminder that sometimes we learn more by becoming still than by constantly moving forward.

The Faeries — Wonder

Tiny glowing faeries appear throughout the artwork.

They represent the hidden details that are easy to overlook.

The little discoveries.

The unexpected moments.

The things that make an ordinary ride through the woods feel extraordinary.

The Forest — Protection & Belonging

Ancient evergreen trees frame the moonlit landscape.

They give the guardians a world to protect and the artwork a sense of depth and permanence.

In Hartwood, the forest is not a backdrop.

It is home.

The Artwork

Hartwood Twilight™ is a fully illustrated, all-over fantasy design featuring deep midnight teal, antique copper, champagne gold, and soft moonlit ivory.

Its composition combines elaborate botanical ornamentation with a detailed moonlit landscape and mythical equine characters.

The front and back offer two different views into the same enchanted world.

The Front — The Twin Guardians

The front centers on two equine-stag guardians facing one another beneath a luminous crescent moon.

Their long, flowing pale manes contrast beautifully with the deep teal background.

Branching antlers rise above their heads, framing the celestial ornamentation at the center.

A sequence of delicate stars descends from the collar toward the glowing crescent moon.

Beneath the guardians, a quiet woodland lake stretches toward the distant mountains.

Dark evergreen trees line the water.

Subtle moonlight reflects across its surface.

Around the landscape, scrolling copper foliage, ornamental branches, pinecones, and celestial details create an elegant, symmetrical frame.

The composition draws the eye from the collar down through the guardians and into the landscape below.

The Back — The Heart of Hartwood

Turn the shirt around...

And we enter the forest itself.

A magnificent equine-stag guardian emerges from the dark woodland, his long pale mane flowing around his neck and shoulders.

Behind him, a glowing moon rises above the evergreen trees and distant mountains.

The moonlit lake winds through the landscape below.

Small faeries and luminous moths drift among the branches, adding delicate points of light to the darker foliage.

A celestial compass-like ornament appears high on the back, while fine gold stars and botanical flourishes frame the composition.

The back is deliberately more atmospheric than the front.

Rather than repeating the mirrored guardians, it introduces one solitary creature in the landscape he calls home.

A quiet moment in the enchanted forest.

The Sleeves — The Living Forest

Both sleeves continue the deep teal and copper woodland theme.

Delicate golden botanical scrollwork rises through the fabric.

Evergreen branches, pinecones, small celestial ornaments, moths, and glowing faeries appear among the foliage.

The composition follows the length of the arms, creating an elegant vertical rhythm.

Little discoveries are hidden throughout the design.

A moth near a branch.

A tiny crescent moon.

A glowing woodland spirit.

Subtle details that reveal themselves the longer you look.

The Collar — The Northern Star

The high quarter-zip collar features coordinating teal and gold botanical ornamentation.

A celestial compass or star motif adds a refined detail at the neckline.

The pattern continues naturally into the upper shirt, creating a finished appearance.

The Cuffs — Woodland Ornament

The cuffs feature delicate copper foliage and celestial accents against the rich teal background.

The smaller decorative elements complement the sleeve artwork without competing with the main illustrations.

Every piece is designed to belong to the same enchanted landscape.

Hartwood Twilight™ is for those who know that the best adventures often begin when the world becomes quiet.

This is my favorite of the two I have bought so far (I’m sure they won’t be the last. 😆). Colors rich and will go very well with several of my riding pants so feels like four different outfits from one shirt). Don’t hesitate, you will be glad you bought from Nadine.

Looking for the perfect UV protective top? Most UV clothes are boring. This is not that! It is also surprisingly comfortable. Snug but not tight, protective neck to wrist, but not hot. Great design and colors! I get compliments all the time. I have two other designs and love them all. I wore one in our TN heat and humidity and felt cool and comfy and stylish.

I have quite the collection of them now as every time a new one comes out I just have to have it. I will post a few pics

This is such a great shirt for endurance riding! I completed a 30 miler in it on a day that had every type of weather and was comfortable all day. Plus it looked fabulous in the photos! I will say it tends to run a tad small, so my next order will be another size up.
